Site Visits

Pre-summit theme based field visits will be arranged to areas in and around Kohima so that they have an idea of the issues in states like Nagaland. This will also give participants who opt for field visits the opportunity to engage with local communities and understand their challenges. This is an optional activity where participants will be required to make a minimum contribution of Rs 500 towards Community Development Fund and also 50% of one night’s extra stay in the hotel.

1. Field trip to Khonoma and Dzulekie

    Khonoma is an Angami tribe’s village located in the western part of Kohima district and about 20 km awayfrom Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. The village is popularly known for its environmental conscious community with proper sanitation and clean environment thus christened as Green Village.

B. Dzüleke village (Forest/agriculture)

    40 Kms west of Kohima with lush evergreen forests and unpolluted natural beauty. The village also conserves Mithun and is known for plentiful trout fish and is an ideal place for picnic goers and also boasts of a rich forest conservation history. This village can also be covered by the same group visiting Khonoma.

2. Field visit to Botsa

    Botsa is the last northern rural township of Angami tribe located near the border of Rengma tribe area under Kohima district. It is about 33 km from kohima(an hour drive) and located in between Kohima-Wokha-Mokokchung road of NH-61. It is an Administrative HQ for neighboring 8-9 villages under the administration of Extra Assistant Commissioner ( EAC). The place is popularknown for weary travellers’ midway eating- joints. Touphema – cultural tourist village is just 4 km away from Botsa town.

3. Field trip to Viswema and Mima village

    Altogether 9 villages of Southern Angami from Phesama village to Khuzama village bordering Senapati district of Manipur jointly owned and shares the resources of Mt. Japfu range.

4.field trip to Puliebadze

    2300 metres above mean sea level. The 4th highest mountain of Nagaland and it is located above Kohima. From here we can have an aerial view of Kohima. A good village that demonstrates the communitization of water supply or showcase conflicts and water scarcity in Kohima town.
